The Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta opens the Mediterranean superyacht calendar on June 7 – 11 2016. Organised by the YCCS and Boat International Media, this four-day sailing regatta attracts an ever-increasing fleet of sailing yachts. The Giraglia Rolex Cup is a Mediterranean keelboat regatta, named after the island of Giraglia, which has been held annually since 1953. It is organized by the Yacht Club Italiano, with the help of the Yacht Club de France and the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez. Since 1997, in which year the current name was adopted, the race has been supported by the Rolex luxury wristwatch company.

The regatta consists of a week-long set of races, beginning with inshore races in the St. Tropez Bay followed by the primary event which begins in St. Tropez, France, passes through the Îles d’Hyères near the island of Giraglia, and then finishes off in Genoa, Italy, a total distance of 243 nautical miles (450 km).

The Superyacht Cup is the longest running superyacht regatta in Europe, a favourite with yacht owners, friends, captains and crew who visit Palma de Mallorca annually for the 4 day event. With warm early summer conditions and reliable sea breezes, the Bay of Palma offers some of the most idyllic racing conditions in the Mediterranean.

The racing is run by the highly experienced international Race Officers and the team at Real Club Nautico de Palma. The participating superyachts are all moored together stern-to in the Superyacht Cup Regatta Village located at Muelle Viejo with the iconic Palma Cathedral and Palm tree lined Paseo Maritimo providing a stunning back-drop. The Cannes Yachting Festival has created a new area: La Terrasse. Ideally situated on the roof of the Palais des Festivals and near to the VIP Club and the panoramic restaurant, this new privileged area overlooks the old port and its 500 yachts on one side, and the Cannes bay and Croisette on the other.
