HISTORY

Benetti is one of the oldest builders of luxury motoryachts in the world. Established by Lorenzo Benetti in 1873, the company began life building wooden boats used for local and international trade.

After the death of Lorenzo, his two sons Gino and Emilio took over the management of the boatyard. They changed its name to Fratelli Benetti and quickly built up a reputation that extended beyond the Mediterranean. After the Second World War, with the disappearance of commercial sailing vessels built from wood, Benetti changed direction and began producing pleasure craft made from steel. Then in the early 1960s the boatyard produced its first luxury mega yachts. Since 1980 the fleet has included big motor yachts in the 30 to 60 meter range and beyond, not least the famous 86-meter ‘Nabila’.

In 1985 the Boatyard was acquired by the celebrated Turin-based boat builder Azimut Spa, which brought in new management and transformed Benetti into the modern, technologically advanced reality we know today: a forward-looking and innovative boatyard, but also one that proudly retains its traditional values of experience, skill and a passion for fine craftsmanship.

Benetti’s mission is to deliver a product built to the highest quality standards recognized by the international megayacht industry. The Benetti Quality System is utilized, comprising a pool of experts and specialist managers who perform over 1,000 quality checks and tests even on medium-sized yachts.

This is achieved by complying precisely with technical specifications, with the requirements of register and classification entities and, most importantly, with the Owner’s expectations, as interpreted by Benetti through its construction capabilities and an Italian love of design.

Aspiring to the highest technical and functional standards, without compromising on appearance and comfort, has always been one of Benetti’s most important goals.

THINKING AHEAD

BEST, Benetti Exclusive Sea Technology, is the unique platform created by Benetti to integrate all on board electronics equipment and systems. With Best, the subsystems on a Benetti yacht, although they have different functions and draw on different technologies, can dialogue to each other in the same language: the television interacts with the lights and the TV cameras communicate with the telephones.

BEST consists of a single network infrastructure and middleware that integrates the various devices connected by exchanging signals and events. BEST also uses the new AIRPLAY system developed by Apple to allow mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod, iMac) to connect to the on board system over wi-fi connections, providing access to Owners’ own personal media and communication resources on board.
