CUBA
EXPERIENCE THE UNIQUE, OLD WORLD CULTURE OF THE CARIBBEAN ABOARD A 7 DAY LUXURY YACHT CHARTER ALONG THE COAST OF CUBA.
Cuba is the largest country in the Caribbean and is located just 90 miles south of Key West, Florida. Cuba consists of the main island, multiple cays, and rocky inlets.
The 1959 revolution and the subsequent US trade embargo has frozen the island in time; vintage American cars still roar through the ramshackle streets of its cities, while horses and carts clatter through the countryside. Although Americans have been prohibited to travel to Cuba for decades, it has remained a top travel destination in the Caribbean for many people who are drawn to its immaculate beaches, rolling mountain ranges, lush rainforests with tumbling waterfalls, and vibrant cities.
The capital of Havana is a intoxicating mixture of dilapidation and debauchery. The contrasts can be stark, but Havana’s contagious salsa rhythms, uninhibited dancing and delicious rum cocktails are ubiquitous throughout the city and make for an enthralling urban experience unlike any other.
Cuba is over 800 miles long. It would be impossible to experience everything this beautiful country has to offer in one week. But if one week is all you have, we recommend exploring the Western coast. If you have more time, the Gulf of Batabano is not to be missed!
Here is our suggested 7 day itinerary aboard a luxury yacht charter, providing the best opportunity to see what Cuba has to offer within a short time. Contact our yachting specialists for more info about visiting Cuba or view charter yachts currently available in the region.
7 Day Charter Itinerary

Day 1 - Havana
Board your luxury yacht in the colorful capital of Havana. Once you’ve settled in, take a taxi and explore the well-preserved Spanish colonial architecture within Old Havana. Enjoy a rum cocktail at the infamous La Floridita or La Bodequita del Medio, both of which were Hemmingway’s favorite spots in Havana. Soak in Havana’s nightlife with dinner at El Patio which overlooks the Plaza de La Catedral. And finally, experience salsa unlike anywhere else in the region at one of the city’s many dance clubs.
Day 2 - Havana to Bahia de Cananas
After a fun night in Havana, you will enjoy a leisurely cruise to Bahia de Cabanas. As your ride along the beautiful Cuban coastline, you will pass white-sandy beaches and colorful reefs offshore. Stop along the way and explore at your leisure. This is a great opportunity to experience some of the many amenities the yacht has to offer. Go on a snorkeling or diving adventure or take out a water toy or two for a thrill. If your mood is more relaxed, enjoy lunch al fresco on the upper deck and sample some of the Caribbean fare your chef has to offer. By the end of the day you will drop anchor in the stunning Bahia de Cabanas. Take in the sunset or explore the small town of Cabanas.

Day 3 - Bahia de Cananas to Cayo Levisa
The next morning you will continue cruising westward along the coast to Cayo Levisa, located about 40 miles from Bahia de Cabanas. This day is about offering you tranquility and privacy to enjoy some of cay’s beautiful beaches along the northern end of the cay. Along the south are swampy mangroves which make for a fascinating exploration by tender or kayak. This is also a great spot for snorkeling or diving as the area is well-protected.
Day 4 - Cayo Levisa to Cayo Jutias
Your journey west continues to Cayo Jutias. This cay is known for the many Spanish galleons that have wrecked on the surrounding reefs while taking on treacherous weather conditions. The cay consists of a narrow strip of land where you will not find more than a couple beach bars and a picturesque lighthouse. The beaches along the cay are flawless as is the crystalline turquoise waters which are filled with colorful starfish.

Day 5 - Cayo Jutias to Cayo di Buonavista
Just to be sure you’ve had your fill of deserted beaches, idyllic anchorages, and crystal blue waters, you’ll continue on to Cayo di Buonavista. There are few places in the Caribbean that provide such isolation with natural beauty. Take advantage of this well-preserved piece of the world. Relax in the Jacuzzi with a mojito in one hand and a cigar in the other. Get a message or partake in a sunset yoga session, if offered by the crew. Or enjoy a private gourmet picnic ashore while taking in the stunning Caribbean seascape.
Day 6 - Cayo di Buonavista to Cayo Largo
With only a couple days remaining, it is time to turn back towards Havana. This is an opportunity to explore some of the beaches that were bypassed on the way here. We recommend stopping in sheltered Cay Largo. Here you can take a tender ashore to visit Puerto Esperanza, a typical Cuban fishing village. In this sleepy village, where time has stood still for decades, you can practice your Spanish while chatting with local fisherman. This is also your last opportunity to snorkel or dive the surrounding reefs.

Day 7 - Cayo Largo to Havana
From Cayo Largo, it’s a four or five hour cruise back to Havana. Once you return to the marina, we recommend taking a few days to explore more of Cuba. Take a couple more days to enjoy the sights in Havana and then go on an excursion inland for the spectacular scenery and quaint villages that are filled with friendly locals. Cienfuegos and Trinidad are unbelievably beautiful towns that should not be missed. After a few land-bound adventures, take in your last mojito and cohiba back in Havana before your flight home.
